It’s softer, more golden, and seems to cling to the ancient olive groves and dry-stone walls of the Valle d’Itria, as if bidding a long, fond farewell to summer. Here at Giardini Pistola, the season is drawing to a gentle close, and we have planned one final, perfect weekend to celebrate the beauty of this transition.
This coming Sunday, the 27th of September, marks the last of our much-loved weekly picnics. It’s a final opportunity to claim a soft blanket on the grass, gather your friends or family, and relax with a basket of delicious, locally sourced food as the sun sets over the Canale di Pirro. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a moment to pause, to breathe in the scent of wild herbs, and to enjoy the simple, profound pleasure of nature and good company. From classic Puglian flavours to vegetarian delights, our baskets are a taste of the landscape itself.
For those who wish to delve deeper into the story of the gardens, Sunday also offers an Expert Guided Tour with the wonderful Marialucrezia. She will lead you through the terraces, sharing the story of how this landscape was transformed, the philosophy of Chelsea Flower Show-winning designers Urquhart & Hunt, and the secrets of the Mediterranean planting that makes Giardini Pistola so unique.
